Sports. Hip Hop. Sneakers. Culture. I live that.
Reflections for Gatorade x WNBA
As Gatorade celebrated the WNBA’s 25th season, the creative team at Swift Collective and I decided to honor those who paved the way, by taking a look at the next generation. Inspired to write the script by the young basketball phenom Izzy Escribano and her journey, I helped make sure to cast her to star in the short. The spot is meant to highlight present day players as a reflection of the incredible women from ‘97 and on, by portraying modern WNBA players and future generations as a reflection of these legends. A reflection of GREATNESS.
Road To The Dunk for Gatorade x NFL
A new NFL season means a new journey to Greatness. For Gatorade, the biggest ownable brand moment on the calendar is the Super Bowl. Specifically the “Gatorade Dunk” on the game’s wining coach. I wrote the V/O for “Road to the Dunk” to excite NFL fans about the 2021-22 season and remind them that everything ends with the universal symbol of victory in sports — which all leads back to both brands.
Nike Basketball LeBron 16
Wrote campaign copy for the LeBron 16 for Nike Basketball. Tasked with personifying basketball’s five positions through LeBron James’ attributes as a player, I gave identity to each of the games positions through the lens of King James’ game.
Hanna Andersson, Soft Is Strong
As the Covid-19 pandemic spread, children’s clothing brand Hanna Andersson was looking to connect to a new generation of consumers who were now stuck at home. Studio Mega brought me in to create a few concepts and write a commercial script. With pandemic sensitive production challenges, I thought about the durability of Hanna Andersson’s products, namely their pajamas, when people wear them the most, and how much strength it takes to be vulnerable right now. I also wanted to create a tagline that went against the well intentioned but already bland now more than ever. Thus the Soft Is Strong concept was born. I wrote the script and my first commercial went live on the brand’s social channels, dot com and on national TV networks.
VIBE Magazine: Young Jeezy x ESPN’s Jay Bilas
For nearly three years, ESPN’s Jay Bilas wakes his twitter feed up everyday with a quote from Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy’s lyrics. While the two come from totally different walks of life, music united them. The odd couple acknowledged and referenced each other several times in interviews (and even musically in Jeezy’s case), but they had never met before last summer. I came up with the concept and produced this for VIBE Magazine around the time of the 2014 NBA Draft and it became the first piece I’ve done to go viral.
BET How To Rock: Kicks
I pitched a concept to the VP of BET Digital centered around the marriage between sneaker culture and hip hop. Together, we created what would become a new annual franchise How To Rock, with the first year celebrating sneakers. As Co-creator/Consulting Producer, I helped develop stories, write content, conduct interviews and more for the project. Click here to view more.
James Harden Vol. 3
Starch Creative’s Portland office brought me on to work on their adidas basketball social campaign. Deliverables included reactive content copy for the brand’s lead athlete, James Harden and new creative concepts for his brand identity.
Nike SB: 15 Years Of SB Dunks
I was brought on to the R/GA team as the Sr. Copywriter for the Jordan Brand AOR, where I wrote/created concepts on all things Jordan Air Jordan XXX1 CDP/PDP/DOT Com, NBA All Star 2017, Air Jordan Defy videos and more for the campaign. I later got to work on copy and concepts for Nike Basketball’s Equality campaign, and created several concepts for Nike SB's 15 Years of SB Dunk, including the archival site which won an Awwward.
Kicks on Fire x Jordan Brand Classic 2014
Being named to the Jordan Brand Classic is about as prestigious an honor a high school basketball player can receive. Having a deep understanding of prep basketball, I identified which players would make good “Sneakerhead All-Americans” based on their knowledge and collections of kicks. Future NBA stars interviewed include D’Angelo Russell (Brooklyn Nets), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), and Stanley Johnson (New Orleans Pelicans).
